Governance

The Board of Supervisors of the Broward Soil and Water Conservation District is governed by a 5-member board, all of whom are elected into office by the residents of Broward County. The office of a SWCD supervisor is nonpartisan and district wide. Candidates are elected in a general election to a 4-year term. Vacancies are filled by appointment by the remaining supervisors until the next regular election. Supervisors receive no monetary compensation for their services.

The Soil and Water Conservation District Supervisor Handbook provides information on a supervisor's role and duties, meeting procedures and much more. The handbook can be downloaded from the FDACS, Office of Agricultural Water Policy website.
